Coelton's "goings on"

Senior Project

Since December he has been working on his senior project.  His topic was "drug testing high school athletes".  He can't take a stand on whether they should or should not do it.  He had to write a big paper on it and also do a power point presentation.  On Tuesday he went to the school at 1:45 and presented; dressed in his Sunday clothes in front of 4 judges.   He passed and got a proficient.
Now the hard part will be not getting senioritis and staying focused until May 28 (last day for seniors).

Bandana Invitational

It's the thick of track season and all the hard work Coelton has put into his training is paying off.  He was invited to run in the bandana invitational.  It's a meet where the top athletes in the state and surrounding areas compete.  The great part is it's held at Mountain View!
Friday is the preliminaries and Saturday is the finals.  On Friday Coelton ran anchor for the 4x800 relay.  His team finished 3rd and was one second away from setting a record.  Coelton ran against Boise's famous Fittzpatrick.  He's a kid who is going to Stanford to run.  Fitz caught Coelton on the 200 , but Coelton out ran him through the 100.  It was really great to watch.  Unfortunately Coelton's team was Disqualified because one of the runners was boxed in and made his move and stepped onto the grass.  The good part is because of their time, they qualified for districts.
On Saturday Coelton ran the mile and while Fitz set a new record at 4:19, coelton did a great job at 4:43.

  Mr. Mountain View

The athletic department puts on a fund raiser called Mr. MVHS.  It's basically a beauty pageant for the boys.  It's quite humorous.  The Student Body votes in 10 boys and they have to do a talent, and they wear tuxes and model and they also have to answer a question.  Coelton's good buddy Garrett Andrew was a contestant this year and he asked Coelton to help him with his talent.
They did a Wii dancing game.  One segment is an indian dance so they are dressed like indians.  One of the teachers jumped up on stage to do it with them.  I guess she does it all the timel, cause she was really good.  Basically Garrett is supposed to be a better dancer than everyone...thus, his talent.  He had the TV screen projected on the big screen behind them.

Prom

Coelton asked Kelli Ellingson to Prom.  He made a sign that said something like "It would BLOW my mind if you would POP and go to prom with me"  He glued popcorn to the sign and had a helium balloon with his name inside.  She had to POP the balloon to see who was asking her.  He also had bubbles, blow pops and bubble gum etc. by the sign that he left on her porch and rang the doorbell and ran.

A few nights later Kelli came over while Coelton was gone and brought a huge box to his room.  On the box was a sign that said "Will I go to prom with you?"  and he opened the box and all these balloons floated to the ceiling.  Some of the balloons were pig balloons.  In the bottom of the box was another sign that said "When pigs fly."

They went 4-wheeling for their day date, it was very cold, but they seemed to have a good time.  They had some pictures taken and then went to eat at  Tepanyaki  and then went to Garrett's house after.  They attempted to watch Avatar, but fell asleep.  He's always been so good to be home by midnight.  But he didn't get home until 1:30.  He was driving the Yukon and had to take others home, so we were easy on him.  Last high school dance.  I think it's a good thing, they are pretty spendy.

Coelton and Elias Lines before going to pick up their dates.
                                                  I just LOVE these boys!
You can see one of the pig balloons in the background:)

Looks and sounds like his senior year has been a blast! Enjoy every minute! I still can't believe he is graduating this year! Wasn't that long ago he and Nate were running around with their bowl cuts on their stick horses!!

Wait, where is Coelton's cumberbund? HAHAHAHA.

Way to go! I wish I was there to cheer him on while he runs. I'd probably cry.
