Oler Family Reunion

The Oler reunion takes place every 3 years.  It was held near Zions in Southern Utah.  John and Charlott were in charge and did a really great job.
We decided to leave on Monday afternoon and drive to Layton and stay in a hotel there.  We went to Lagoon on Tuesday.  We had a great time.  I must admit that I didn't take any pictures at lagoon.  Wierd.  Some of our friends from our ward were at Lagoon the same day.  The Ball's.  Caden had a lot of fun with Ryan...his pipe moving buddy.  They even rode the catapult.  Teresa took pictures, so I'll have to get some from her.  We also enjoyed a few rides with Tyler!  It was so fun to watch his face and see his excitement.
Chloe is 50 inches tall so she was able to ride everything!  And she did.  We went on EVERYTHING.  We went on Samuri, and got soaking wet.  It was so funny.  Good thing it was a hot day.  We pulled our cooler full of good food in and set up under some nice trees.  Joel and I actually did something that we have never done.  After eating lunch, we sent the kids out alone to tackle more rides while we laid on the blanket and TOOK A NAP!  We must be getting old.  We stayed until we had done it all and some of it numerous times.  Rattle snake rapids and an ice cream in pioneer village is all I need.  We left at like 9pm and picked up a burger at In and Out...very good!  We stayed at the Homewood Suites in SLC where Joel stays during the week when he works there.  They put us up in thier best room and everyone calls Joel by name.  The kids think it's so cool.
Wednesday morning we drove to the reunion and arrived at 3pm.  The reunion was held at Clear Creek Ranch.  It was a nice place with several buildings to sleep in and a big pavillion and a pond with lots of water activities.  Joel and I were assigned to stay in the Lodge, Jarin and Carolyn were our room mates.  Chloe stayed in our room as well.  Hailey and Caden stayed in the bunkhouses.  We had all our meals cooked for us, so that was really nice.  Although it wasn't so nice to have to get up at 6am to eat breakfast.  Since it is so hot there we had to get up early to do our activities while it was still cooler temps.     There was about 135 people in attendance.

LaRee has a sister Aunt Ann who lives in Nibley, and she has 8 children.  She has 2 brothers Uncle Ralph who lives in St George, he has 3 children and Uncle Ken who lives in St. George also has 5 children.  Of course LaRee has 8 children as well.  So that makes for a pretty large group.

We had a great time together.  There was lots to do to keep everyone entertained.  We went hiking in Zions National Park, we drove to some pink corral sand dunes and had a blast, we played in the pond...canoes, rope swings and slides.  We played lots of games; minute to win it and relays.  There was a giant slip and slide and we helped LaRee with a little cooking school for the little cousins.    We also had campfire programs nightly.  It was very well done.

The reunion was Wed.-Sat.   It was LaRee's birthday on Saturday, she turned 75!  We had some cake and sang happy brithday to her before everyone left.   We drove to Beaver and stopped at the Cheese Factory for a little while.  We got some squeeky cheese and ice cream.  Then we drove to Jordan and Melissa's house ...after a brief stop to the BYU bookstore : )  We had never seen Jordan's place in Herriman.  It was very nice and Melissa had homemade pizza's cooking and the whole works ready for us when we arrived.  We enjoyed a yummy dinner with them and the tour and also got to meet the pets.  They have 2 bearded dragon lizzards that were fun to play with along with Cassie the dog, a cat and a trantula.  When your Dad is a Vet it's bound to happen.

Oh, What do you do in the summer time...

Let Freedom Ring!

This 4th of July we spent at home.  We invited some families over and had some KFC and salads with lots of yummy desserts.  The kids enjoyed playing in the water in the back yard. We played some water balloon games and had a little water fight.   We loaded up all our bikes and drove to the crab shack and then rode our bikes in to the park to watch the fire works.  It was a great night!
